For decades, driver education classes in high school were thought to help prevent accidents. Research has proved that driver education does not reduce accidents. This is because parents are under mistaken concept that drivers education provides a complete driver program. This is NOT the case.
Drivers Education only provides a SMALL introduction to traffic safety. Students in driver education are provided with only 6 hours of the required 25 hours of behind the wheel instruction required to drive safely.
Students that take a Drivers Education course can receive two benefits from completing the course. They can obtain a senior license at age 17 and some insurance company's will give a discount on auto insurance premiums for students that have completed the course.
